The history of tobogganing / sledding
Sleds have been used as a means of transportation for thousands of years. In Europe, the first sleds were probably used since early times as a winter means of transport, for example in Scandinavia, in the Alpine region or in the Ore Mountains as a pulling sled for transporting hay and wood and in smaller forms for transporting people. The later toboggan developed as a leisure device from Alpine toboggan forms.
